PA1-4179 detects SHANK1a in rat samples.
PA1-4179 has been successfully used in Western blot procedures. By Western blot this antibody detects a ~212 kDa protein representing SHANK1a in rat brain lysate.
The PA1-4179 immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to the N-terminal residues E(63) R L L R E Y P Q S F E K G V(77) of rat Shank1a.
Shank is a novel family of postsynaptic density proteins (PSD) that bind to PSD-95-associated protein GKAP. Its putative function is to act as a scaffold protein in the PSD to cross-link NMDA receptors/PSD-95 complexes and couple them to regulators of the actin cytoskeleton. Shank1a is a splice variant of Shank1.
