The PA5-16551 immunogen is a synthetic peptide from the C-terminus of human TACE protein.
TACE (TNF-alpha converting enzyme) protein is a membrane bound matalloprotease from ADAM (a disintegrin and metalloprotease) family of proteins. It cleaves 26kDa type II membrane-bound precursor of TNF-alpha into 17kDA mature form which is secreted. TACE is also known to process other membrane proteins including TNF receptor, TGFalpha, L-selectin and amyloid protein precursor.
