MA1-24723 detects TNFRSF1B from human samples.
MA1-24723 has been successfully used in neutralization, inhibition assays, and Western blot procedures. In Neutralization studies, at 0.5-1.0 ug/ml, this antibody will block 50% of the bioactivity due to 0.3 ug/ml recombinant human sTNF RII, in the presence of 0.25 ng/ml TNF-alpha in a crystal violet cytolytic assay using mouse L929 cells. Anti-Human sTNF RII is tested for its ability to neutralize the biological effect of sTNF-RII but not sTNF RI in a cytolytic assay using mouse L929 cells, in the presence of TNF-alpha. The ND50 of the antibody is defined as the concentration of antibody resulting in a one-half maximal inhibition of the soluble receptor activity on a responsive cell line, when the soluble receptor is present at a concentration just high enough to elicit a maximum response.

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the TNF-receptor superfamily. This protein and TNF-receptor 1 form a heterocomplex that mediates the recruitment of two anti-apoptotic proteins, c-IAP1 and c-IAP2, which possess E3 ubiquitin ligase activity. The function of IAPs in TNF-receptor signalling is unknown, however, c-IAP1 is thought to potentiate TNF-induced apoptosis by the ubiquitination and degradation of TNF-receptor-associated factor 2, which mediates anti-apoptotic signals. Knockout studies in mice also suggest a role of this protein in protecting neurons from apoptosis by stimulating antioxidative pathways.
