Western blot analysis of TPI1/Triosephosphate isomerase using A) 30 µg Neuro2A whole cell extract (B) 30 µg C8D30 whole cell extract (C) 30 µg NIH-3T3 whole cell extract (D) 30 µg Raw264.7 whole cell extract and E) 30 µg C2C12 whole cell extract. Samples were loaded onto a 12% SDS-PAGE gel and probed with a TPI1/Triosephosphate isomerase monoclonal antibody (Product # MA5-18297) at a dilution of 1:1000.

This gene encodes an enzyme, consisting of two identical proteins, which catalyzes the isomerization of glyceraldehydes 3-phosphate and dihydroxy-acetone phosphate in glycolysis and gluconeogenesis. Mutations in this gene are associated with triosephosphate isomerase deficiency. Pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes 1, 4, 6 and 7. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
