Immunoprecipitation of beta CstF-64 variant in HeLa lysate, either in RIPA buffer (lanes 1, 2, 4, 6) or TX100 buffer (lanes 3, 5, 7). Lysates overexpressing mouse beta-Cstf-64 (DYKDDDDK tagged) immunoprecipitated using 2ug of b-CstF-64 polyclonal antibody (Product# PA5-37985) with Protein G-coated magnetic beads (lanes 6,7). Samples were probed with a DYKDDDDK antibody at a dilution of 1:1000. Lane 1 shows mock-transfected HeLa cells. A 1/40th section of the lysate was loaded onto lanes 2 and 3 before IP, and in lanes 4 an 5 following IP.

This gene encodes a nuclear protein with an RRM (RNA recognition motif) domain. The protein is a member of the cleavage stimulation factor (CSTF) complex that is involved in the 3' end cleavage and polyadenylation of pre-mRNAs. Specifically, this protein binds GU-rich elements within the 3'-untranslated region of mRNAs.
