Western blot analysis of c-Kit in whole cell extracts of HeLa, Jurkat, and K562 cells (lanes 1-3 respectively) using a c-Kit recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody (Product # 701494) at a dilution of 1ug/ml. Detection was performed using an HRP-conjugated goat anti-rabbit secondary antibody followed by chemiluminescence (ECL). Results show a band at ~80kDa.

CD117 is a member of the tyrosine kinase receptor family and is expressed by subsets of hematopoietic progenitor cells and mast cells. This proto-oncogene binds to stem cell factor to form a dimer. This interaction promotes proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic progenitor cells, and mast cell differentiation. CD117 is also expressed by melanocytes and plays a role in signaling and activation of these cells.
