Immunohistochemistry analysis of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded human brain tissue stained using a eIF3B polyclonal antibody (Product # PA5-23278) at 10 ug/ml. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues is enhanced by boiling tissue sections in 10 mM sodium citrate buffer, pH 6.0 for 10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 min.

eIF3B is an acidic protein belonging to the EIF-3 subunit B family with an RRM (RNA recognition motif) domain. An important protein involved in protein translation/synthesis, eIF3B is known to bind to the 40S ribosomal subunit and promotes the binding of methionyl-tRNAi and mRNA. eIF3B is a component of the EIF3 multiprotein complex, composed of at least 13 different subunits. It is also known to interact with eIF3A and directly with the p170 subunit of EIF3, the region required for this association is located within the RRM. Ubiquitous expression of eIF3B is seen in most of the tissues.
