PA1-21739 detects p51B in Human and Mouse samples.
PA1-21739 has been successfully used in Immunocytochemistry and Western Blot procedures.
PA1-21739 immunogen corresponds to Synthetic peptide: CNFDMDARRNKQQRIKEEGE (Human)..
The p53 tumor suppressor gene, which is induced by DNA damage and /or stress stimuli, causes cells to undergo G1-arrest or apoptotic death. p51 protein is similar but distinct from p53. Unlike ubiquitous expression of p53, expression of p51 is restricted to skeletal muscle, placenta, mammary gland, prostrate, trachea, thymus, salivary gland, uterus, heart and lung. p51 has two major splice variants p51A that contains 448 amino acids and p51B that contains 641 amino acids. In p53-deficient cells, p51A indices growth suppression and apoptosis. Mutations in p51 have been found in some human epidermal tumors.
