The Thermo Scientific EFOX Analytical Solutions Platform: A New Approach to Environmental Workflows for PFAS and Emerging Contaminants

Environmental laboratories are under increasing pressure to analyze expanding contaminant lists, meet tighter regulatory expectations, and deliver fast, reliable results across complex matrices. This webinar explores how labs can move beyond single-instrument optimization toward integrated, future-ready workflows.

The session introduces the EFOX (Environmental and Food Organic Xenobiotics) concept, a next-generation platform approach supporting both screening and targeted analysis through enhanced selectivity and flexibility. It will examine how dual-channel detection, advanced workflow design, and strategic sample preparation can help laboratories scale confidently as analytical demands grow.

A key focus will be the role of techniques such as dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction (DLLME) in producing cleaner extracts, reducing matrix effects, and improving result stability. Perspectives from leading environmental laboratories will highlight approaches to PFAS expansion, workflow scalability, and confirmation confidence, helping labs build more resilient analytical systems for the future.

Key learning objectives

  • Evaluate current challenges and regulatory requirements associated with ultra-trace environmental contaminant analysis, including PFAS and emerging compounds.
  • Assess how DLLME-based sample preparation can enhance sensitivity, reproducibility, and efficiency in high-throughput environmental testing workflows.
  • Apply integrated LC-MS workflows to improve detection limits, data quality, and operational efficiency in environmental laboratories.
  • Interpret analytical results within a regulatory context, ensuring method robustness, compliance, and scalability for routine monitoring programs.
