Does your lab test for pesticides or PFAS?
Learn how to stay ahead of evolving analytical challenges with the new eSeminar series: Emerging Issues in Pesticides and PFAS Analysis.
Two pervasive concerns in food, beverage and environmental analysis are the presence of pesticides and PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances). If you’re involved in scientific analysis for either one, you want to stay up-to-date on the latest research and analytical techniques. You understand that emerging issues can have a direct impact on your laboratory, your testing parameters and your ongoing workflow processes.
That’s why we created this eSeminar Series:
2022 PFAS eSeminar Series: Detection and Quantification of PFAS in Air, Water, Soil and Food Packaging
Available On Demand
Part 1 – PFAS: Appearing out of thin air?
Duration: 1 hour
In the first event of our three-part eSeminar series, three leading experts in PFAS analysis will discuss pressing topics around the persistence of PFAS in air, including sampling and analytical technologies, regulatory development and environmental remediation. We’ll address critical considerations to help ensure your success in meeting the evolving needs for PFAS extraction and analysis.
Part 2 – In deep water with PFAS
Duration: 1 hour
In the second event of our three-part eSeminar series, three leading experts in PFAS analysis will discuss sample preparation and analysis methods for measuring PFAS in water and soil, including combustion ion chromatography (CIC), liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and accelerated solvent extraction with solid phase extraction (SPE) cleanup.
Part 3 – PFAS: A package deal
Duration: 1 hour
In the third event of our three-part eSeminar series, leading experts in PFAS analysis will discuss a variety of topics around PFAS in food packaging materials, including method development and sample preparation.

2022 Pesticide eSeminar series: Transforming pesticide analysis with GC-MS, IC-MS, LC-MS, and data analysis
Part 1 – Staying ahead of pesticides residue analysis challenges with GC-MS/MS
Duration: 29 minutes
Jerry Mueller, QC Chemist-MS Specialistand application expert with NOW Foods, will discuss the current regulatory requirements for pesticide analysis in food samples and demonstrate easy-to-deploy and scalable workflow strategies (or techniques/technology) for pesticide analysis using Thermo Scientific equipment. This discussion will include examples of pesticide analysis in various botanical matrices, review data, and provide solutions using the new Thermo Scientific™ TSQ™ 9610 Triple Quadrupole GC-MS.
Part 2 – Sample Prep and IC-MS/MS Workflows for Anionic and Cationic Pesticides
Duration: 90 minutes
Sample extraction is the start of any analytical chromatography process, and in food this can be more than a little challenging. In the first part of this event, you’ll discover some tips and tricks to help you get ahead. The event will also include a discussion of ionic polar pesticides, which include some of the most frequently used pesticides worldwide and present unique challenges to traditional methods of pesticide analysis.
Part 3 – “Eat your vegetables,” but how safe are they? Total solutions for comprehensive pesticide residue analysis
Duration:1 hour
Comprehensive pesticide residue analysis in food requires multiple analytical techniques to address the diverse physiochemical properties and compound classes. Triple quadrupole mass spectrometry coupled to GC, LC, and IC addresses this challenge and maximizes coverage, providing the necessary specificity and sensitivity to meet regulatory guidelines. Thermo Fisher Scientific offers all three technologies, as well as everything that is required for sample preparation, separation, and analysis/reporting. Learn how advances such as automated on-line cleanup of sample extracts, tandem dual UHPLC chromatographic systems, and predefined workflow solutions increase productivity and add confidence to your data.
Part 4 – Pesticide data analysis – get it right the first time
Duration:1 hour
Accurate pesticide data analysis is at the forefront of our environmental and food customers’ minds now more than ever. In the fourth installment of our four-part eSeminar Series, Zoe Julian and Tim Stratton will highlight our software solutions designed to assist your pesticide analysis, whether you work in research or routine analysis. Discover how the Thermo Scientific™ Chromeleon™ Chromatography Data System can streamline your routine workflows, from data acquisition to processing and reporting, with more right-first-time results. Thermo Scientific™ Compound Discoverer™ software also streamlines unknown identification, determination of real differences between samples, and elucidation of biological pathways with a comprehensive, integrated set of libraries, databases, statistical analysis, and visualization tools linked in customizable workflows.
