    Christopher Shaffer

    Christopher Shaffer is a chemist and Sr. Sales Development Manager for Thermo Scientific’s Bulk Element Analysis Division, overseeing XRD, XRF, and OES technologies. He has been with Thermo Fisher Scientific since 2007.

    Chris holds a chemistry degree from Washington & Jefferson College and completed postgraduate studies in analytical chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh. He began his career managing an analytical lab where he gained expertise in XRD and XRF, before joining Thermo as an XRF applications specialist. He later served as product manager for the Thermo ARL Perform’X XRF in Switzerland and as Latin American business manager before assuming his current role in 2017.

    Welzmiller, Simon

    Simon Welzmiller works as the scientific lead of the global XRD applications team at Thermo Fisher Scientific. After completing his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Chemistry at Ludwig-Maximilians University Munich, Simon began his PhD studies at Leipzig University in 2011, focusing on material science and crystallography. In 2015, Simon started his career in the analytical instruments business before joining Thermo Fisher Scientific in 2017 as an Application Specialist for XRD in the EMEA region. Since 2018, Simon has been working as the Global Applications Specialist for XRD.
