Powerful Product Inspection Technology at NWFPA

Portland OregonIt’s never too early in the year for Northwest Food & Beverage World. The event will be held January 8–10 in Portland, Oregon, USA. The organization promotes this regional show as having a national impact on the food and beverage manufacturing industry, as it brings together the premier vendors of packaging and machinery and the key decision makers in the food and beverage industry.

The show offers a strong educational track and a 200,000 square foot exhibit floor showcasing cutting-edge technology and production line equipment. The event producer, Northwest Food Processors Association, believes that the show reflects a marketplace for the growing cottage food and beverage industry in the Northwest. Because “Taste of the Northwest,” a key aspect of the trade show floor, has grown exponentially over the last few years, you will find 100 food and beverage makers selling their products. Attendees are given the opportunity to be educated on the latest trends, as well as meet and work with food buyers, marketers, service providers and potential partners.

Northwest Food and Beverage World logoI am especially looking forward to hearing what Rod Wheeler, a luncheon keynote speaker, has to say about food defense. Wheeler is CEO of the Global Food Defense Institute and a powerful speaker and voice in food protection.

We will be in the Garrett Packaging Booth (#1535) demonstrating the latest product inspection innovations in metal detection, checkweighing and X-ray inspection. Garrett Packaging offers a combination of innovative new equipment and proven systems to improve both the ergonomics and economics of your process. These are the types of technologies that can help ensure the safety and quality of your packaged and unpackaged products. Please make sure you stop by on Monday, January 8, at 3 p.m., as I will be holding a Tech Talk presentation on multiscan technology in the exhibit hall. I will describe the multiscan food metal detector concept and give several examples showing significant performance improvements.

This is the first time we will be demonstrating the unique new multiscan technology for food metal detectors on the west coast of the United States, so if you were not able to make it to Pack Expo Chicago last fall, this is the time to see the equipment for yourself. The detector scans up to five completely adjustable frequencies to find metal types and sizes previously undetectable. It’s like having up to five metal detectors back to back in a production line. It reduces the probability of an escape by many orders of magnitude.

Karen LovelyIf you’re looking for some entertainment in the Portland area, and enjoy original, contemporary blues, soul, and Americana music, I highly recommend catching a performance by Karen Lovely. Her latest album hit #13 on the Billboard Top 100 Blues Albums, and she has been touted as one of the best voices in the world of blues today. And boy can this Portland artist belt out those songs.

If you’re looking for food inspection technology as powerful as Karen Lovely’s voice, join us at Northwest Food & Beverage World.  And if you can’t make it to the show, you can watch a video of the Sentinel equipment in action.
