We recently announced our new Thermo Scientific ColorSEM Technology, the first commercial SEM EDS solution that includes always-on integrated elemental analysis with unique color imaging. Later this month, the first system will be installed at Houston Electron Microscopy, giving them instant access to elemental information and being able to better tell features apart than in greyscale SEM images.
Houston Electron Microscopy is a contract laboratory who does work for manufacturing companies and engineers as well as petrochemical and oil and gas companies. One of their many use cases focuses on identifying clays in geological core samples, which can help the companies determine appropriate drilling applications. With ColorSEM Technology, the team at Houston Electron Microscopy will be able to identify the clays in a fraction of the time it currently takes using standard SEM EDS tools.
