JCK Las Vegas promotes itself to be the leading jewelry event in North America open to all jewelry professionals. The event combines a plethora of networking events and complimentary education sessions with the industry’s broadest selection of finished jewelry, gems and timepieces. And personally, I think having hundreds of jewelry makers in one space is pretty amazing. There will be plenty of shiny precious metals glittering on the exhibit floor.
JCK advises that attendees will notice a big change on the floor from years past—wider aisles will ensure less traffic jams and an overall easier show experience. Additionally, in the realm of improved navigation, the new Exhibitor Recommendation program, JCK Match, (retailers are surveyed during registration and matched with exhibitors based on product category and price-point interest), will benefit from a Geo-locator function; where they will receive notification of what’s around them on the show floor, no matter where they are, when using the official JCK Mobile app.
Here’s an interactive show floor map so you can map out your visit. I will be in Booth B6156, demonstrating how to analyze the precious metal content in jewelry, coins, and other valuable products using XRF analysis. If you have been challenged with trying to figure out if items brought in by customers are gold-plated or not, make sure you bring some samples to our booth and test out the plating detection technology. Several independent, complementary methods in the detection software work in tandem to alert you to the probability that an item is plated. The technology, based on elemental XRF signatures, works regardless of the gold concentration of the plated surface layer, and can be used to identify vermeil (gold-plated silver), as well as gold-plated copper, steel, tungsten and any other non-gold substrate.
Las Vegas might be in the desert, but that won’t stop the attendees from hitting the beach. Grammy award winning recording artist Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20 will perform live at the Beach at Mandalay Bay, Sunday June 1st (you’ll need a ticket to attend). Appropriately for this jewelry show, one of Thomas’ songs is titled Her Diamonds. Just remember to leave your own diamonds and precious metals at home. If you drop them in the sand, you’ll never find them.
Mandalay Bay’s 11-acre tropical Sand-and-Surf Beach pool might fool you into believing you are at a tropical island, but if you are looking to launch a canoe, kayak or raft into a river, you might want to consider going to the Hoover Dam during your visit to the area. They have a fascinating tour. And when you’re finished with the tour, stop by one of my favorite restaurants, Ri Ra. It is a great Irish restaurant bar which serves authentic Irish food, beer and whiskey.
I hope to see you in Las Vegas, but if you can’t make it, follow the show twitter feed #JCKEvents
