Geological Society of America Annual Meeting and Expo– A Celebration of the Geosciences
10.08.2013mining shows in North America because it is run by a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of the geosciences. The Geological Society of America was founded in New York in 1888 and salutes the contributions of the global geoscience community, and welcomes colleagues and friends from around the world. The society has been bringing scientists together for 125 years. The annual meeting — which takes place October 27-30, 2013 — offers as much information as you are willing to consume. There will be oral and poster presentations about geology, along with field trips, short courses, and other activities. Another big part of the annual meeting is the Exhibit Hall, which includes the Graduate School Information Forum and booths for companies, suppliers, other geoscience organizations, and purveyors of goods and services. The technical sessions cover a wide range of topics from Archaeological Geology to Coal Geology, Economic Geology, Geochemistry, Environmental Geoscience, Geology and Health, Hydrogeology and more. I encourage you to register for the meeting and see how geoscientists are turning information into knowledge and discoveries into solutions. Make sure you stop by our booth, # 400 during the exhibit hours from Sunday through Wednesday. We’ll be featuring our portfolio of Thermo Scientific instruments, equipment and software for advancing mining, including density gauges, conveyor belt scales and weighbelt feeders, field and laboratory elemental analyzers, online slurry analyzers and laboratory information management software (LIMS). You are even welcome to bring samples for rapid analysis by portable XRF in our booth. I hope to see you there.
GSA’s 125th Anniversary Annual Meeting & Exposition will be held at the end of this month in Denver, Colorado, where there will be a celebration of the geosciences. As a geologist, I consider it one of the best
