VIDEO: Mud Logger Tells How Portable XRF Analysis Benefits Oil Drilling

Thurman Lynch

Thurman Lynch

Thurman Lynch of Mid Continent Well Logging Service talks about his mud logging business and how a field-portable XRF analyzer aids in providing well site geological services. Here are some of his comments:

As a mud logger, our job is to analyze the rock and report back what we see to the geologist… and the stakeholders – the operators.

Plenty of labs offer this service, but you have to wait up to 2-3 weeks….  With a field-portable XRF device, we can take it anywhere and give onsite elemental analysis within minutes.

Anytime you save days in the oil field drilling a well, you are saving money.

Portable XRF elemental analysis aids in geo steering, frac designs, and inferring mineralogy… all of which means a better well production.

Hear what else Thurman has to say about mug logging operations in this 2 ½ minute video.
