As a Manager of Field Applications Scientists at Thermo Fisher Scientific, Dr. LaFlamme oversees a team of qPCR FAS in the western US, specializing in Sample Prep, qPCR, and digital PCR in a wider range of market segments.<\/p>\n
Before joining Thermo Fisher Scientific over 12 years ago, Dr. LaFlamme held several key positions in the field of genetics and molecular biology. At National Jewish Health in Denver, CO, he managed part of a Genetics Core Lab, supporting researchers with advanced techniques such as qPCR, liquid-handling robotics, microarrays, as well as capillary and Next-Gen sequencing. As Laboratory Manager and Director of Genetic Testing at Sciona, Inc., he established and operated the company’s clinical genotyping laboratory offering direct-to-consumer genetic testing. At STA Laboratories, he developed PCR test methods for detecting seed-borne pathogens and procedures for verifying hybrid-purity in crop and vegetable seed production.<\/p>\n
Dr. LaFlamme holds a B.S. in Biochemistry (1986) and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (1991) from the University of Maine.
