The Conversation Revisited: Metal Detection or X-ray Inspection?

Monday, April 16 at 10:30 a.m.
Speaker: Paul Payerle, North America Sales Manager, Product Inspection, Thermo Fisher Scientific

In this era of heightened food safety scrutiny, many processors have embraced increasingly easy-to-use X-ray inspection technology to find virtually any type of foreign object in their packaged food products, from metal, stone, and bone to plastic and glass. But where do you turn if X-ray inspection is too costly and may even be technology overkill if all you really need to find are metal foreign objects?

The answer, surprisingly, may be in an age-old approach with completely new technology: Multiscan metal detection. Mulltiscan, with up to five user-selectable frequencies, overcomes key shortcomings and limitations of conventional one- or two-frequency technology, reducing the chance of an escape to near zero.

We’ll cover the implications of this higher-performing technology and how it may help guide your decisions about whether metal detection or X-ray inspection is right to help meet a range of application-specific food safety needs.
