The PSA typically includes elements such as:

Preventative Maintenance

Electro-mechanical components degrade over time. Our scheduled, on-site Preventative Maintenance (PM) services are designed to maximize the life of your analyzer and prevent problems from occurring. PM services will help sustain optimal operating conditions and can include the following:

  • Audit of each instrument included in the PSA
    • Review the accuracy of each instrument
    • Conduct stability tests of each instrument
    • Check health and condition of electro-mechanical components
    • Check computer software and configurations
    • Check instrument resolution and liquid nitrogen usage (if applicable)
  • Replace non-durable and worn or damaged parts where parts are included or available on-site
  • Identify durable components potentially needing replacement
  • Review spares usage; recommend ongoing stock levels
  • Take corrective action for any issues identified
  • Provide device inspection survey (if applicable)
  • Develop action plan to maximize accuracy and availability of each instrument
  • Train staff on basic maintenance tasks
  • Perform instrument safety checks
  • Back-up system software
  • Document and review results with key stakeholder

Access and Response service

Emergency breakdowns can occur despite all preventative efforts. Our Access and Response service diagnoses and resolves issues as quickly as possible. Access and Response service typically includes:

  • Remote technical support. Our highly trained technical support staff is available 24x7 by phone and by remote broadband connection into the instrument.
  • Field service engineering team. Our factory trained and certified field service engineering staff provides backup to the technical support team with specific site knowledge. They are available for on-site dispatch to resolve issues as required. 
  • Application engineering team. Our knowledgeable and experienced application engineering staff is available for both remote and on-site support for situations involving more complex measurement, software, or other control issues. They also assist in process optimization services.
  • Field service management team. The field service management team supports the field service team if any escalation is required.
  • Research and development team. Our global R&D teams are always available to assist the technical support and field service staff with very complex issues, or to assist with design enhancements.
     

Recovery and Assistance

Most reported issues can be diagnosed and resolved remotely by our team of technical support engineers. If our staff determines that on-site intervention is necessary, our field service or application engineers are ready to be dispatched as soon as possible. Priority will be given to PSA customers. Including Emergency Recovery and Assistance with the PSA means there are no additional charges for emergency visits and no delays to create a quote or a purchase order.


System audit visits and remote accuracy check

System audit visits are on-site services provided by a highly knowledgeable application engineer (AE) who will work with your staff to conduct a detailed system performance analysis, creates a plan for process optimization, and takes any corrective or adaptive actions as necessary to achieve the best measurement accuracy. If included in the scope of supply, our AE will also assess and fine tune any closed-loop control as appropriate. The system audit service should be conducted least once per annum for maximum benefits.

Between the system audit visits, our remote accuracy check can help you sustain an optimal performance level by providing needed visibility into the process. Our service team will work with you to gather the necessary data from the instrument and the corresponding data from your lab. Our engineers will analyze the data and schedule a follow-up call with you review the results, recommend adjustments, and address any other concerns or questions you may have in regard to the instruments.

This training course teaches your personnel the skills they need to safely and effectively complete regular operation and maintenance tasks required to ensure your Thermo Scientific equipment has high availability and accuracy. This course is delivered at your site during the commissioning of the equipment. Duration is approximately two to three days depending on the mix of equipment and on the roles and number of people needing training.
  Operation & Maintenance Training at Commissioning

Operation and Maintenance Training (with a Product Support Agreement)
Attendees who complete the course will be able to safely and effectively perform the operation and recommended maintenance of Thermo Scientific equipment with only partial support from Thermo Fisher Scientific service engineers and other support services. This course is delivered at your site with classroom and practical syllabus elements strongly focused on your people and your Thermo Scientific equipment. Duration is 4 days. Since most maintenance is then able to be done by the end-users, this allows the Thermo Fisher service engineers to focus on the next level of training for your personnel and on optimising accuracy. This training, service and support is provided under a Product Support Agreement.

This four day course is delivered at one of the OEM factories specialising in your type of Thermo Scientific equipment. You should attend if you are directly involved in ensuring your significant equipment investment has high availability and accuracy. Participants will have a clear understanding of how the Thermo Scientific sampling and analysis equipment is able to be used to optimise the process, and the knowledge to interpret the current equipment status and start making improvements. It includes classroom and practical syllabus elements.

The course allows participants to focus on learning by taking them away from the day-to-day interruptions of their normal work environment. It is also an opportunity to meet people from other places with similar equipment, and to share knowledge, experience and best practices.

Accuracy Maintenance Training (with a Product Support Agreement)
Accuracy Maintenance Training is a five day course that you should attend if you are involved in ensuring your significant equipment investment in sampling and on line analysis has high availability and optimal accuracy for process control. Participants will be able to operate, maintain and optimise calibration accuracy of the equipment smarter, safer, more consistently and more effectively.

The course is delivered at your site and is only available to sites that have a current Product Support Agreement.

Advanced Accuracy Training is a course that you should attend if you need to understand and optimise Thermo Scientific sampling and online analysis equipment accuracy in your plant, and if you have the resource capacity to take on this work load directly. Your significant equipment investment in sampling and online analysis already has good availability because your team know how to perform the regular operation & maintenance, but needs to be more accurate so it can confidently be used as a process control tool.

The course is delivered at your site in two sessions by our trainer, and requires you to apply learned techniques in a practical assignment.  Up to four trainees can attend. The first session is five days duration then, after you have completed your assignment work, and the second session is four days duration. Classroom and practical assignment syllabus elements are strongly focused on you and your sampling and analysis system.

The course is only available to sites that have a current Product Support Agreement because we know that trainees need mentor support to implement changes and improve the accuracy of the equipment to the next level of performance.
