Former vice president of the United States Al Gore congratulated Life Technologies for its sequencing efforts during his keynote address at the 2010 BIO International Convention at the McCormick Place convention center in Chicago, Ill on Wednesday.

Addressing thousands of life science executives at the conferences’ plenary luncheon, Gore referenced stem cell research, personalized medicine and next-generation sequencing as new technologies the life science industry was developing to further healthcare for all mankind. He specifically mentioned Life Technologies as one of the companies whose sequencing technology was leading the way towards lowering the costs of genome sequencing.

Life Technologies had a strong presence at the 2010 gathering for the life science industry, with speakers on five panels, covering topics such as personalized medicine and its impact on healthcare, synthetic biology, bioethics, intellectual property and the use of genomics in clinical trials.
