Whether your experiments involve gene expression, microRNA expression, pathogen detection, genotyping, or translocation analysis, the Applied Biosystems StepOne (48-well) and StepOnePlus (96-well) Real-Time PCR Systems provide precise and quantitative measurements with easy-to-use software. The design wizard walks new users through the setup, which includes quantitation method, detection chemistry, ramp speed, nucleic acid template, reaction mix, and sample dilutions.

StepOne and StepOnePlus Real-Time PCR Systems
Figure 1. StepOne and StepOnePlus Real-Time PCR Systems. The StepOne System features a 48-well block and 3-color detection. The StepOnePlus System features a 96-well block with six temperature zones and 4-color detection.

Both instruments offer a long-life blue LED-based optical system that records fluorescence from FAM/SYBR Green I, VIC/JOE, and ROX dyes. The StepOnePlus System also accommodates the NED/TAMRA dyes and features VeriFlex technology, which combines six independently controllable peltier blocks for enhanced flexibility and precise temperature control.

Applied Biosystems offers a complete series of reagents, kits, and instruments for your research needs from start to finish. These products include RNA isolation kits, TaqMan Assays (e.g., see page 37, TaqMan Technology: Expanding the Range of Gene Expression Analysis), and real-time PCR systems.

Industrial Design Award Winner! The StepOne Real-Time PCR System received the Bronze award for Analytical Instrument Industrial Design from the Instrument Business Outlook (IBO). Strategic Directions International, Inc., publisher of IBO, conducts an annual industrial design competition to highlight innovative and distinctive products released during the past year. The IBO Design Awards recognize products that are both aesthetically appealing and that enhance the end-user’s experience.
