Beta-glucuronidase (GUS) protein expression in Synechococcus elongatus

The gene for beta-glucuronidase (GUS) was cloned into vector pSyn_6 and transformed into Synechococcus elongatus (negative for GUS activity) following manufacturer's recommended protocols. GUS expression was measured by Western blot analysis and showed GUS protein represented >20% of total soluble protein. [A] SDS-PAGE gel with SimplyBlue™ staining. [B] Western blot using anti-V5 FITC antibody. TSP: total soluble protein. PUR: protein purified with Dynabeads® His-TAG Isolation & Pulldown beads.
