Frequently asked questions

Q1. I already have a 3500 Dx. How come I don’t have access to some of these features?

A1.  If you already have a 3500 Dx instrument, you will need the latest Data Collection Software 3 to access all the features. We offer a package for software update. The upgrade package includes the newest version of the Data Collection Software 3 with IQ/OQ/PQ and a new computer system. There will be no change to the hardware of your 3500 Dx instrument.

Q2.  I have an older Applied Biosystems™ Genetic Analyzer. Is it possible to install this software on older instruments?

A2.  Data Collection Software 3 can only be installed on 3500 Dx instruments.  It does not support any other models of genetic analyzers.  However, if you do have an older instrument in your lab, you might be able to take advantage of our Trade In/Trade Up program, which can offer you significant savings on your new instrument.

Q3. What medical device-related standards does this new instrument meet?

A3. The 3500 Dx meets the requirements for the design and development of medical devices under ISO 13485. It also complies with the In Vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices Directive (98/79/EC).
