Announcing EVOS M5000 Software Revision 1.8.3076.262

Revision 1.8.3076.262 contains improvements and bug fixes for a better user experience.

Review the Installation Instructions below before updating your software.

New features

  • A two-pass autofocus mechanism in addition to the existing single-pass autofocus option. Two-pass autofocus has been set as the default, providing improved focus, accuracy and consistency.
  • An elevated Windows Service is used for the software update process to meet new security guidelines. This approach eliminates the need for embedded credentials while helping ensure that software updates can be performed securely and reliably with the required system privileges.

Note: After installation of this new process, previous versions of the software cannot be loaded on the system anymore.

Bugfixes

  • Improved system stability by resolving an issue that could lead to increased memory usage and an unexpected restart prompt.
  • Improved application responsiveness by resolving an issue that could cause the user interface to become unresponsive.

Installation instructions

Software Update (Rev 1.8.3076.262)

IMPORTANT! Restart your system prior to updating to optimize the update process.

Update from Web/USB

  1. Insert fresh USB drive with at least 200 MB available space.
  2. Right-click “Download” link for Software Update.
  3. Select “Save Link as”.
  4. Select USB Drive and press Save.
  5. Plug USB flash drive into the M5000.
  6. Click Settings in M5000 software, and then select the Service tab.
  7. Click Update from USB in the Service tab. A windows dialog will pop up.
  8. Locate the update file from your USB Drive and click Open.
  9. The software will pause for a few moments and then restart.
  10. A Windows™ OS Setup dialog box will pop up. Click Next to proceed with software update.
  11. The screen will display the update progress. When the update is complete, the system will restart and the M5000 software will automatically boot up again.

Update from Connect cloud-based storage
(requires Internet connection on the microscope)

  1. Click Settings in M5000 software, and then select the Service tab.
  2. Click “Update from Cloud”.
  3. The software will pause for a few moments and then restart.
  4. A Windows™ OS Setup dialog box will pop up. Click Next to proceed with the software update.
  5. The screen will display the update progress. When the update is complete, the system will restart and the M5000 software will automatically boot up again.
