Invitrogen Platinum technology is used with several different types of DNA polymerases. Platinum technology consists of proprietary antibodies, specific to each DNA polymerase, that inhibit polymerase activity at ambient temperatures.
Invitrogen Platinum DNA Polymerases are provided in an inactive form, due to specific binding of the antibodies. The polymerases are activated in a temperature-dependent manner (at 94°C) during the start of PCR. Once dissociated from the antibodies, the DNA polymerases regain full activity.
