Activity data for the EmrE membrane protein expressed using the MembraneMax™ kit

Activity assays showed that the EmrE is active only when MembraneMax™ reagent is included (+) in the expression reaction (inset). The substrate [3h]tetraphenylphosphonim (TPP+) was used as ligand. Binding constants for purified EmrE complexed with his-NLPs were in agreement with a previous report indicating that EmrE is correctly folded, and therefore correctly inserted into the lipid bilayer of the MembraneMax™ reagent.
