Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) causes one of the most economically significant swine infectious diseases. It is mainly characterized by reproductive failure in sows and respiratory illness in pigs of all ages. These clinical signs vary markedly between herds and depend on the virulence of the infecting strain. When new PRRSV variants began to emerge in late 2020, we decided to reevaluate the performance of our VetMAX products for identifying novel variants.
