Celebrating a New Center of Excellence in Transplantation
On Aug. 7, we celebrated the grand opening of our new site in West Hills, Los Angeles! This state-of-the art facility provides our team with expanded labs to develop innovative solutions for transplant patients, additional areas to host educational workshops for our customers, and optimized office space for a creative and efficient workflow.
"We are keenly aware that the investment in this facility is really an investment in hope for transplant patients. It also demonstrates our commitment to our transplant business and the team’s ability to achieve significant milestones in the years to come."Marc Casper | President and CEO
The program included remarks by Marc Casper, President and CEO of Thermo Fisher Scientific; Nicole Brockway, President of the Transplant Diagnostics division; Patrick Durbin, President of Specialty Diagnostics; and U.S. Congressman Brad Sherman.
Dr. Peter Nickerson, Medical Director of the Transplant Immunology Lab at the University of Manitoba, and Shawn Hoven, whose son Kadin is a 3-time transplant recipient, offered reflections on the impact that our products and services have on the greater transplant community. They reminded us that, as always, the pursuit of improved care for transplant patients is urgent and necessary work. Additionally, Jasson Crockett, Economic Development Manager for the City of LA, shared a certificate on behalf of the mayor, and Mark Ridley-Thomas from the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, presented a scroll.
"Scientific partnership and disruptive innovation, these are two of the key core values that have made the One Lambda brand and Thermo Fisher Scientific a global leader in transplant medicine. Knowing that the leadership is dedicated to these values going forward ensure that the transplant diagnostics business of Thermo Fisher Scientific will continue to be at the cutting edge of transplant medecine for the next 35 years..."Dr. Peter Nickerson | Medical Director, Transplant Immunology Lab - University of Manitoba, Winnepeg, Canada
On this momentous day, we were honored to be joined by some very special guests, such as Mrs. Hisako Terasaki, wife of One Lambda’s founder, Dr. Paul Terasaki; Tom Mone, CEO of OneLegacy; and a few former Patient Voice speakers, including Kim Payne and Jim Stavis.
During the coming years and decades, we believe this building will be a Center of Excellence where we will continue partnering with our scientific collaborators, patient advocacy organizations, and local governance to improve the lives of transplant patients around the world.
