It finds use in tanning leather, corrosion inhibitor, catalyst in petroleum refining, antiperspirant and manufacturing of incandescent filaments. Aluminum nitrate nonahydrate is employed in uranium extraction and nucleonics. It is also used as a nitrating agent and textile mordant.
