Dionex™ CarboPac™ MA1 IC Columns

Catalog number: 044066
For sensitive, rugged, and reliable separations of reduced sugars without the need for derivatization, use Thermo Scientific™ Dionex™ CarboPac™ MA1 Analytical & Guard Columns. These high-capacity, strong anion-exchange columns efficiently separate reduced monosaccharides and disaccharides commonly found in food products and physiological samples. Achieve baseline resolution of fucose, N-acetyl-(D)-glucosamine, N-acetyl-galactosamine, mannose, glucose, galactose, and neutral oligosaccharides in the same separation.

Dionex CarboPac MA1 Columns also provide analysis of exoglycosidase-released neutral monosaccharides. The monosaccharides are moved away from the column void, enabling immediate evaluation of contaminating exoglycosidase activities. Using a simple hydroxide eluent, Dionex CarboPac MA1 Columns separate analytes isocratically or with gradient elution. The low flow rate ensures low eluent consumption and reduces errors associated with eluent preparation.

Unique Selectivity for Carbohydrate, Alditol, and Aldose Analysis
  • No sample derivatization required
  • Higher sensitivity than refractive index detection
  • Simple methods with pulsed amperometric detection (PAD)
  • Compatible for ambient temperature separations
  • Run-to-run reproducibility
  • Long useful lifetime
About the Dionex CarboPac Family of Columns
The Dionex CarboPac family offers a selection of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) columns, each optimized for a different class of compounds. Combined with PAD, which provides a means to detect carbohydrates without derivatization, these columns support simple, reliable techniques to separate sugar alcohols, mono- and disaccharides, and poly- and oligosaccharides.

Dionex CarboPac columns provide high-resolution separations of:
  • Glycoprotein oligosaccharides and complex carbohydrates from dietary fiber, including fructans, maltodextrins, and amylopectins
  • Monosaccharides, such as those obtained from glycoprotein hydrolysates or plant hydrolysates
  • Mono- and disaccharides
