Overcome conventional gas isotope ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS) limitations and realize an uncompromised view of your analytes. Ultra-high resolution helps uncover the isotopic anatomy of molecules and revolutionizes the field of clumped and site-specific isotope analysis. The Thermo Scientific™ Ultra™ HR-IRMS sets a new standard in advanced gas isotope ratio measurements, paving the way forward to exciting and unprecedented scientific discoveries in atmospheric sciences, climate research, petroleum geochemistry, noble gas applications, and beyond.
Set a new standard in advanced gas isotope ratio measurements. The Thermo Scientific™ Ultra™ High Resolution IRMS (HR-IRMS) is a double-focusing multicollector gas source isotope ratio mass spectrometer that unites cutting-edge technologies from both the Thermo Scientific™ 253 Plus™ IRMS and the Thermo Scientific™ Neptune™ Series high resolution multicollector ICP-MS (MC-ICP-MS) instruments.
With a guaranteed mass resolving power of 30,000 (5%, 95% edge definition), the Ultra HR-IRMS facilitates the separation of analyte ions from isobaric interferences arising from contaminants, adducts, and isotopologues.
The Ultra HR-IRMS instrument is designed for optimal stability and built around a single rigid ion optical bench. Thanks to its outstanding magnet field stability, the Ultra HR-IRMS provides long-term mass stability and constant mass resolution for reliable high resolution IRMS measurements.
As a powerful and flexible tool that is designed to fit into IRMS laboratories, the Ultra HR-IRMS enables the exploration of novel isotopic tracers through interference-free measurements, and paves the way towards exciting and innovative scientific discoveries.
Ultimate abundance sensitivity
The variable collector array on the Ultra HR-IRMS instrument covers a dynamic range of signal intensity (>10 orders of magnitude) ranging from collection of the more abundant ion beams in Faraday cups to single ion counting of very rare ion species. Very small signals can be analyzed with the axial secondary electron multiplier, which is equipped with our unique RPQ retardation lens for ultimate abundance sensitivity.
The Ultra HR-IRMS includes two dual viscous flow inlet systems for handling up to 3 reference gases together with the sample. Based on our modular dual inlet design each dual inlet can be exchanged as required to avoid cross contamination depending on the sample types that are being analyzed.
Fully integrated workflow
The new Thermo Scientific™ Qtegra™ intelligent scientific data solution revolutionizes the procedures of isotope ratio analysis by fully integrated workflows making high resolution isotope ratio MS a routine tool. Qtegra software combines all experiments related to a specific sample in one "lab book" organizing data acquisitions, combining and computing data streams, presenting final results of even complex analysis.
