Bovine Serum Albumin is suitable for use as an enzyme stabilizer during purification or for dilution of restriction endonucleases and nucleic acid modifying enzymes. BSA is also commonly used in DNA and protein labeling experiments as a blocking agent to minimize background. This BSA is acetylated to inactivate contaminating nucleases and proteases. Performance and quality testing Purity is determined by SDS-PAGE. No detectable contaminating activity is observed in 3´ and 5´ exonuclease, DNA nicking, and restriction endonuclease inhibition assays.
