Perform trace metal analysis and organic solvent applications with temperature and chemical-resistant Thermo Scientific™ Nalgene™ Wide-Mouth Teflon™ FEP Bottles. These all-fluoropolymer bottles are autoclavable and can be rigorously cleaned in boiling nitric acid.

Note:

Before autoclaving, completely disengage threads or remove closure.

† The term 'leakproof' applies to Thermo Scientific Nalgene products that meet the following criteria: a) Bottle/flask/funnel closure systems with closures smaller than 100mm, after they are filled with water, inverted, withstand air pressure of 2psig for 2 minutes, and no water escapes;. b) Bottle/funnel/flask closure systems of larger than 100mm after they are filled with water, inverted for 15 minutes, and no water escapes. Note: these tests, using other liquids, may not yield the same results. To ensure safe usage, customers are advised to test Thermo Scientific Nalgene bottles and closures under conditions of their planned applications. Thermo Scientific Nalgene products are leakproof at ambient temperature and pressure when used with their Nalgene closures.

Why are your Nalgene containers and caps always different materials?

In order to function as a leakproof system without a liner (one of the key advantages of our laboratory and packaging products), the surfaces of the container and closure that meet and push together when tightened must be dissimilar materials with different hardnesses. Even our polypropylene copolymer (PPCO) bottles with polypropylene homopolymer (PP) bottles are different enough to function properly. On some larger carboy products, this difference cannot be sufficiently maintained so a pliable thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) gasket is added for proper leakproof seal function.
