For most computers not imaged by Applied Biosystems specifically for the Procise System, a file is missing from the operating system which is essential to ensure full communication between the Procise and computer.
For Windows 2000 computers, this file is called Install msmask32, and it is a 3.6 MB file which can be e-mailed to you by Technical Support or your service engineer, though usually the .exe extension must be removed to permit the file to pass through most firewalls as an e-mail attachment. Prior to installation on your computer, the .exe extension must be added back to the file. Then, just double click on the file to autoinstall, and the Procise system and computer should then be able to fully communicate and all Procise menus should be accessible.
For Windows XP computers, a different file, called msmask32 (162 KB), must be downloaded, and the procedure is somewhat more involved (its extension is .ocx): 1. Register using regsvr32.exe. Download the file (about 163 kB) to your desktop, then add the .ocx extension onto it. 2. Copy the file into the System32 folder. To register it, press on Windows Start Button and choose Run... 3. In the Text Box type: regsvr32 C:\YourDir\YourFile.Ocx where "C:\YourDir\YourFile.Ocx" is the full path to the file.
