Description

2-Heptanone is used as a solvent for resins and lacquers. It is also used as a fragrance in cosmetics and a flavor for foods. It is involved as a reagent in the synthesis of rifamycin derivatives, which exhibit antibacterial activity. Further, it is employed in the preparation of thiazolidin-4-one derivatives as inhibitors of Toxoplasma gondii. In addition to this, it is considered as an alternative local anesthetic to lidocaine.
