Applications
L-serine is used as a dietary supplement to improve health under certain conditions of malnutrition or physical stress, as a cosmetic incredient, as ingredients for cell culture media. It is used as a precursor to several amino acids, including glycine, cysteine and other metabolites such as sphingolipids and folate. It is used in bio-synthesis of purines and pyrimidines. Soluble in water. Insoluble in ethanol, ether and benzene.
