Description

Potassium iodide is used in pharmaceutical formulations and in film photography as a source of iodine. It is widely used as an analytical Reagent in iodometric tritrations. Apart from its application as a source of iodide to produce organo iodine compounds such as in Sandmeyer reactions, potassium iodide finds extensive use as a nucleophilic catalyst for several alkylation reactions.
