Further, it is used in the preparation of 2,4,6-triisopropyl-benzenesulfonyl chloride. It is also employed as a swelling agent during the synthesis of mesoporous silica with two-dimensional hexagonal pores. In addition to this, it is used as a micelle expander in the synthesis of magnetic mesoporous silica nanoparticles.
