Descripción

It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, it is used in the treatment of musculoskeletal and joint disorders including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, bursitis and tendinitis. It finds its application as gout suppressant, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug and analgesic. It also plays many biological roles. Additionally, Indomethacin displays adipogenic actions via binding and activation of PPARγ (peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ), a ligand-activated transcription factor known to play an important role in adipogenesis.

Aplicaciones
Es un medicamento antiinflamatorio no esteroideo, se utiliza en el tratamiento de trastornos musculoesqueléticos y articulares, incluidas la osteoartritis, la artritis reumatoide, la gota, la bursitis y la tendinitis. Se usa como supresor de la gota, antiinflamatorio no esteroideo y analgésico. También desempeña muchas funciones biológicas. Además, la indometacina muestra acciones adipogénicas a través de la unión y activación de PPARγ (receptor activado por proliferadores de peroxisoma γ), un factor de transcripción activado por ligandos del que se sabe que desempeña un papel importante en la adipogénesis.

Solubilidad
Soluble en acetona (40 mg/ml - solución transparente, amarilla), etanol (20 mg/ml), éter y aceite de ricino; soluble en cloroformo (50 mg/ml - solución transparente, amarilla, extremadamente viscosa); se descompone con álcali fuerte, pero es estable en medios neutros o ligeramente ácidos. No soluble en agua.
