Can I use StemPro HSC Expansion Medium (Prototype) without cytokines or growth factors?

This media system is formulated without cytokines or growth factors, but cytokines and/or growth factors should be added immediately prior to use. For hematopoietic stem cell culture, we recommend adding the following cytokines at the final concentration indicated: SCF (100 ng/mL), FLT-3L (100 ng/mL), TPO (100 ng/mL), IL-3 (50 ng/mL), and IL-6 (20 ng/mL).

StemPro HSC Expansion Medium (Prototype) has been shown to expand normal human CD34+ cells from cord blood, bone marrow, and mobilized peripheral blood.

Can I freeze the complete StemPro HSC Expansion Medium (Prototype) to extend the product shelf life?

No, we do not recommend freezing the complete StemPro HSC Expansion Medium (Prototype). It should not be stored at 2-8 degrees C either. The complete medium should be prepared immediately prior to use in cell culture and the remaining unused complete medium should be discarded.
