Description

Tetracycline is used for treatment of chronic inflammatory cells. Tetracycline derivatives induce apoptosis in osteoclasts, Jurkat T lymphocyte cells and in cultured monocytes and macrophages. It is a compound that has been shown to induce apoptosis in various cells.

General Description

• Tetracycline is a semisynthetic compound derived from chlortetracycline, an isolate from Streptomyces aureofaciens
• Tetracycline is a broad-spectrum bacteriostatic that inhibits polypeptide formation by binding the 30S ribosomal subunit and preventing aminoacyl tRNA-mRNA complex formation
• It may have other bactericidal properties such as limited binding to the 50S subunit

Application

• Tetracycline has been shown to exhibit antiprotozoal properties
• It can be used to kill both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria
• It is suitable for use in laboratory applications in resistance gene testing and research on infection
