GeneBLAzer® NMUR1-NFAT-bla CHO-K1 cells contain the human Neuromedin U-25 receptor 1 (NMUR1) stably integrated into the CellSensor® NFAT-bla CHO-K1 cell line. CellSensor® NFAT-bla CHO-K1 cells (Cat. no. K1534) contain a beta-lactamase reporter gene under control of the Nuclear Factor of Activated T-cells (NFAT) response element.

The GeneBLAzer® NMUR1-NFAT-bla CHO-K1 cells are functionally validated for Z' and EC50 concentrations of Neuromedin U-25 In addition, GeneBLAzer® NMUR1-NFAT-bla CHO-K1 cells have been tested for assay performance under variable conditions. These data are found in the Validation & Assay Performance Summary. Division Arrested cells are irreversibly division arrested using a low-dose treatment of Mitomycin C, and have no apparent toxicity or change in cellular signal transduction.

Two receptors for neuromedin U-25 have been identified through various studies and are 50% homologous to each other. The receptors have different patterns of expression; NMUR1 localizes to the peripheral organs, including the gastrointestinal tract, urogenital system, and kidneys. The central nervous system (CNS) was found to express much lower amounts of NMUR1 than the peripheral organ systems. In contrast, NMUR2 is expressed primarily in the CNS. Both receptors are believed to couple to the Gq family of proteins upon ligand binding. The physiological roles for these receptors are unknown, but some recent animal studies have implicated NMUR1 in inflammation and the regulation of body weight and feeding.
