Cultivate and isolate pathogenic fungi with Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ SABHI™ Agar. Sabouraud Dextrose Agar was developed by Sabouraud for cultivation of dermatophytes1. Brain Heart Infusion Agar is useful for primary isolation of fungi from clinical specimens2. In 1967, Gorman developed SABHI Agar combining Sabouraud Dextrose Agar and Brain Heart Infusion Agar. This combined formulation was found to increase the recovery of pathogenic fungi.
Pathogenic fungi have an enormous impact on human health. Most people are aware of some of the superficial infections caused by fungi. These include skin and nail infections such as athlete's foot and ringworm, predominantly caused by a dermatophyte. More seriously, certain fungal species can cause invasive diseases in humans.
Use SABHI™ Agar for the cultivation and isolation of pathogenic fungi.
