MH Broth

Catalog number: R112474

Cultivate a wide variety of microorganisms using Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Mueller Hinton Broth. Mueller Hinton formulated this medium as a protein-free medium for the purpose of isolating pathogenic Neisseria1. MH Broth was later used for testing gonococci and other organisms for susceptibility to sulfonamides2,3.

Cultivate a wide variety of microorganisms using Mueller Hinton Broth.

  • Recommended by FDA, World Health Organization (WHO) and NCCLS for testing most commonly encountered aerobic and facultative anaerobic bacteria in food and clinical material4,5.
  • Ready-to-use – Convenience of prepared media.

Mueller Hinton Broth is prepared with beef extract and acid digest of casein that supply amino acids, nitrogenous substances, vitamins, carbon, sulphur and other nutrients which are necessary for bacterial growth. Starch serves as a growth factor and a protective colloid that neutralizes toxic products which may be formed during the growth of bacteria.
