Cultivate a wide variety of microorganisms using Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Eugon Broth (Dehydrated). It was developed by Vera to obtain luxuriant growth of fastidious microorganisms such as Neisseria, Haemophilus, and Brucella which are otherwise difficult to grow1. Isenberg et al. found that Eugon Broth supported the growth of a more diverse group of microorganisms than other liquid media2. Eugon broth may be used for primary culture of sterile body fluids and other specimens which may contain small numbers of bacteria or when early detection of the etiological agent is especially critical.

Eugon Broth is recommended for cultivating a wide variety of microorganisms.

  • Rapid Growth: Supports rapid growth of fastidious microorganisms such as Neisseria, Haemophilus and Brucella
  • Luxuriant Growth: The high carbohydrate content along with high sulfur content improves microbial growth.

This medium contains casein and soy peptones that provide nitrogen and amino acids necessary for bacterial growth. Dextrose acts as an energy source which supports rapid and luxuriant growth of most saccharolytic microorganisms3. Sodium chloride maintains osmotic equilibrium. L-cystine, a reducing agent, and sodium sulfite are added to stimulate the growth of microorganisms.
