Highest antigen sequence indentity to the following orthologs: Mouse (79%), Rat (79%).
This recombinant protein control fragment may be used for blocking experiments with the corresponding antibody, PA5-140309. In IHC/ICC and WB experiments, we recommend a 100x molar excess of the protein fragment control based on the concentration and the molecular weight. Pre-incubate the antibody-protein control fragment mixture for 30 min at room temperature.
PRSS27, also known as Marapsin, is a gene located on chromosome 16p13.3 that encodes a serine protease enzyme. This protein is part of the trypsin-like serine protease family, which is characterized by a catalytic triad essential for proteolytic activity. PRSS27 is primarily expressed in the epidermis and other epithelial tissues, such as the salivary glands and pancreas. It plays a role in various physiological processes, including digestion, inflammation, and immune response regulation. In the skin, PRSS27 is involved in keratinocyte differentiation and the maintenance of skin barrier function. Dysregulation or altered expression of PRSS27 has been associated with inflammatory skin conditions, such as psoriasis, where it may influence the inflammatory cascade and contribute to disease pathogenesis. Research into PRSS27 continues to explore its potential role in epithelial homeostasis and as a therapeutic target for skin-related and other inflammatory disorders.
