MultiScribe Reverse Transcriptase is a recombinant moloney murine leukemia virus (rMoMuLV) reverse transcriptase optimized for TaqMan-based assays. MultiScribe Reverse Transcriptase is similar to MuLV reverse transcriptase but differs in its recommended usage. This recombinant RNA–dependent, DNA polymerase uses single-stranded RNA as a template in the presence of a primer to synthesize a complementary DNA (cDNA) strand.

Features of MultiScribe Reverse Transcriptase include:

  • Compatible with one-step and two-step RT-PCR reactions, which provides flexibility in assay setup
  • Individual component design provides versatility in assay setup
  • 5,000 U is supplied in 100 μL vials (50 U/μL)
  • Reaction temperature up to 52°C
Applications
  • PCR
  • RT-PCR
  • Reverse Transcription
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

How much of the first-strand cDNA reaction should I load for PCR?

While the volume is dependent on the starting amount of RNA used for the first-strand synthesis and the abundance of the target gene, we'd recommend starting with 10% of the first-strand reaction for your PCR reaction.

Can I purchase the MultiScribe Reverse Transcriptase from the TaqMan® MicroRNA Reverse Transcription Kit (Cat. No 4366596) separately?

Yes, the MultiScribe Reverse Transcriptase (Cat. No. 4311235) can be purchased as a standalone product. Please see the following link.

Does Applied Biosystems MultiScribe Reverse Transcriptase have RNase H activity?

Yes, MultiScribe Reverse Transcriptase (Cat. No. 4311235) does have RNase H activity.

What is the difference between MultiScribe Reverse Transcriptase and MuLV Reverse Transcriptase?

MultiScribe Reverse Transcriptase (Cat. No. 4311235) and MuLV Reverse Transcriptase (Cat. No. N808-0018) are the same enzyme, a recombinant Moloney Murine Leukemia Virus (MuLV) Reverse Transcriptase. The only difference is in the recommended usage for each enzyme. MultiScribe Reverse Transcriptase is recommended for use with quantitative nuclease assays, and MuLV is recommended for use in traditional RT-PCR assays.

'Host immune responses elicited by invading pathogens depend on recognition of the pathogen by specific receptors present on phagocytic cells. However, the reactions to viral, bacterial, parasitic and fungal pathogens vary according to the pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) on the surface of the invader.
