(Chloromethyl)cyclopropane was used in the synthesis of (lithiomethyl)cyclopropane and homoallyllithium via 4,4?-di-tert-butylbiphenyl or naphthalene-catalysed lithiation reaction. On reaction with isolable dialkylsilylene affords 5-silaspiro[4.4]nonane derivative.

Aplicaciones
El (clorometil)ciclopropano se utilizó en la síntesis de (litiometil)ciclopropano y homoalilitio a través del 4,4′-di-terc-butilbifenilo o de la reacción de litación catalizada con naftaleno. Al reaccionar con el dialquilsilileno aislable produce un derivado del 5-silaspiro[4.4]nonano.

No miscible en agua.
