2-n-Butoxyethyl acetate is used as a solvent for nitrocellulose lacquers, enamels, coating additives, epoxy resins, and varnishes. It is a film coalescing aid for polyvinyl acetate latex. Further, it stimulates the release of prostaglandin E(2), an arachidonic acid metabolite, in human epidermal keratinocytes. In addition to this, it serves as an ingredient in ink removers and spot removers.

Aplicaciones
El acetato de 2-n-butoxietilo se utiliza como disolvente para lacas de nitrocelulosa, esmaltes, aditivos de revestimiento, resinas epoxi y barnices. Es una película coalescente que sirve de ayuda al acetato polivinílico de látex. Además, estimula la liberación de prostaglandina E(2), un metabolito de ácido araquidónico, en los queratinocitos epidérmicos humanos. También sirve de ingrediente en productos para eliminar la tinta y en quitamanchas.

Solubilidad
Miscible con hidrocarburos y disolventes orgánicos. Ligeramente miscible con agua.

Incompatible con agentes oxidantes fuertes y bases fuertes.
