• Mark surface of the piece to be heated
• Mark appears dull and chalky
• When desired temperature has reached mark quickly melts to a glossy, transparent appearing liquid
• Glossy appearance retained after cooling
• During extended heating periods, mark may vaporize or be absorbed by surface
  • Requires an alternate method
• Periodically touch heated object as surface temperature rises
• Improved holder features durable metal shaft and convenience of pocket clip
• Melting is the only sign the correct temperature has been reached
